 Features

By bridging planning and analysis, accoPLANNING

lets your team work smarter — all within Power BI.

The visual works like a spreadsheet but is powered by

robust planning logic and database connectivity.

Built for business users, it simplifies workflows like

financial planning, HR-planning, and ESG reporting.

  • Advanced Calculations

Add calculations to any position in the datagrid using a rich library of calculation methods and logic, including if-then-else expressions.

Almost any type of calculation is possible, supporting all required business cases, and can be placed precisely in the row or column where it is needed. This feature is especially valuable for financial reporting and planning, where specific reporting formats are often required.

Unlike Microsoft DAX, which doesn't allow exact placement of calculations in specific cells, these calculations are performed in real time—even in writeback scenarios—without the need to save the data first.

  • All in One Platform

accoPLANNING is developed to be as close to Power BI as possible – Users will not have to learn to use any third party tool or any modeller to get started with accoPLANNING. Everything happens in Power BI! Making it the tool in the market that is closest to Power BI!

  • Auditlog

accoPLANNING includes powerful auditing for every single input that has been saved to the database. This ensures precision, and transparency during planning and masterdata scenarios.

  • Auto-Generate SQL Script

With accoPLANNINGs robust engine users can generate their visual to support a specific use-case and then ask the visual to generate a SQL script that can be run in the SQL database, which will instantly provide the user with the writeback tables needed to support the visuals-architecture, this makes it significantly easier to setup the accoPLANNING writeback tables.

  • Basic Validation Rules

accoPLANNING offers a variety of validation options directily in the visual, it is possible to setup conditional formatting and other validation of inputs to assist end-users input correct data in correct areas!

  • Drill-Through

Just like any other Power BI native visual, accoPLANNING offers an option of being able to drill in the visual, this option allows for more flexibility during planning processes and also opens op the opportunity to utilize accoPLANNING as a reporting matrix.

  • Edit Existing Values

accoPLANNING is developed to reduce redundancy whilst planning, therefore one of the key features of the visual is the option of editing existing values – values that has been edited will not be overwritten in the database but will be stored in a parallel table where users has complete control over how they want to utilize the edited values.

  • Insert New Lines

With the power of SQL and accoPLANNING customers can insert new lines in their visual – this specific feature is being used in scenarios varying from adding new productIDs, or even FTE’s.

  • Shadow Writeback Calculations

In writeback scenarios, it is often preferred that the results of planning calculations are saved in the writeback table, along with the manually entered data that generated those calculations. This approach offers several significant benefits:

    • Portability – Results can be easily passed on to other semantic models or external systems.

    • Consistency – You don’t need to replicate the calculation logic in other reports or models where the result needs to be displayed.

    • Performance – Performance is greatly improved, especially for leaf-node calculations, which have traditionally been a major pain point in multidimensional environments—regardless of the platform.

These challenges are solved through shadow calculations, which deliver high performance while maintaining a rich set of calculation methods and logic, including if-then-else expressions, similar to advanced calculations. Shadow calculations can also be positioned anywhere within the datagrid and executed in real time.

The results can be saved either as the full calculated value or as the delta between the calculated result and the current cell value—the latter being the most commonly used scenario.

  • Versioning

AccoPLANNING utilizes your already existing datamodel and hierarchical architecture, making it seemless to setup different versions for the visual, which will be stored based on the transaction-key ensuring further precision, while decentralizing the planning process
